We’ve Moved!

House
The house is finished! We closed on Friday (Aug 12th), and then moved in over Friday and Saturday (Aug 13th was the first night we stayed in our new house). A big thanks to those that helped us move, and a special thanks to my parents for letting us live in their basement since the beginning of March.
The pictures for this post come thanks to our builder, Richie McDonald. Richie has built over two hundred homes for a big builder in Utah, but has now started his own home building business, Sweetwater Homes. He hired a professional photographer to come take pictures for his upcoming website, and Richie was nice enough to send us a copy.
House – August 7th – Walk Through

We had our walk through with the builder on Friday. I didn’t get a photo of everything they’ve done since my last post (most notably, I don’t have photos of the master bathroom or the concrete in the backyard), but I have pictures of the front concrete, the carpets, and the kitchen.
House – July 21st – Stone, Brick, Tile, Hardwood

Since I last uploaded pictures, they’ve finished the stone work on the outside. They put brick above the windows and garage door (although they still haven’t changed out the wrong vent above the garage door). They put in the stonework around the fireplace. They finished tiling the bathrooms, and they started on the hardwood floors.
UPDATE: They put in the vent above the garage door, shown in the last two photos.
House – July 13th – Stone, Stucco, Baseboards, Painting, etc

They’ve done a bunch more work since my last post. Inside the house, they’ve put in all the doors, closet shelving, stair railings, moldings, and baseboards, they’ve painted the walls and stained all the woodwork. Outside, they’re working on the stucco, stone, and soffits.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted pictures of the house. Since I last posted they’ve made lots of progress. During that time, I spent 4 1/2 days pulling wire for all sorts of fun and exciting things–I also got lots of help from friends (thanks Matt, Paul, Ben, and Brent!)

Today they put particle board on some of the roof, and put the floor joists in the bonus room upstairs.

They made good progress on the house today. They framed the interior walls on the main floor and the garage.

They made some great progress on the main floor today. They put up almost all of the outer walls, and started on the interior walls.
It’s hard to walk through the main floor at this point and get a good feel for how large the rooms are. Some places seem bigger than I envisioned them, other smaller.
